Meet Melissa

Melissa White is a children’s book author, nurse practitioner, educator, wife, and mom to two of her favorite little humans.

She published her debut children’s book, Daddy Goes to Space, in November 2025. Inspired by her son’s incredible imagination and his love for his dad, the story grew from the everyday moments that make childhood so magical. Her second book, Clare’s Great Zoo Adventure, was inspired by two things especially close to her heart—the St. Louis Zoo and her sister-in-law, Clare.

Outside of writing, Melissa is a nurse practitioner with a doctorate in nursing and teaches remotely in nurse practitioner programs. Between healthcare, teaching, writing, motherhood, and life with a husband who travels for work, she has become especially skilled at balancing a full schedule and making the most of every minute.

When she isn’t working or writing, Melissa can usually be found on the porch with her husband watching their kids play, curled up with a good book, celebrating Christmas far too early, enjoying a glass of red wine, or—happiest of all—somewhere on a boat or near the water.

Melissa writes because she believes childhood is made up of little moments worth remembering—big imaginations, family adventures, unconditional love, and the stories shared along the way. Through her books, she hopes to bring a little more imagination, connection, and joy to families everywhere.

And if you ask Melissa about her other talents, she’d probably include dreaming up and manifesting her wildest ideas, keeping her tiny humans happy, healthy, and safe, and making the most of every minute with the people she loves.
